I just picked up a TFO Deer Creek Mieser/McKinney Swicth in a 7wt and DAMN! With the 460 AFS head its like butter but the rod can take 550. I can't even imagine shooting that head! With the 460 80 footers would just sail with a size 6 wiggle minnow. Makes me wonder about a 480 skagit compact head a T-10 tip and some barred zonker strips on the Yellowstone. Its a shame the steelies are done here but the lake run smallies are starting to show up and this is the rod for it. Big flies and big tips and no broken rods!! Hahah I won't forget that Eben! hahaha

I run a skagit short line on my 8wt switch...loads quick in really tight places (big bonus in the NW). I put a short on my 6 wt spey for swing streamers out on the gunny too...a great line for anyone to pick up spey or switch casting.

Yeah when all the summer nonsense is over and the chome comes back I'll be switching over to a Skagit Compact. I don't think theres a better set up for high water fish. Plus I can see allready how you need to form the larger D-Loop with the Scandi and thats a little limiting on the Erie tribs too, but with the dreaded "wombat" you can still put it out there but the Skagit is where its at, and they say its the best for fishing from a boat too.
